What is Midjourney? Midjourney is a text-to-image AI that allows us to generate stunning images in seconds. Only using text prompts. No 3D modeling or rendering, just text.
In this module, we’ll learn how to use Midjourney and ChatGPT together as research and inspiration tools, generating incredible visual studies of materials, textures, and interior concepts. The focus here isn’t on generating finished designs, but rather on focusing on exploration of details, materials and textures whilst curating beautiful images that spark ideas and guide our creative direction.
Chapter 01 - The Fundamentals
We’ll start with the basics and go through the interface, tools, settings, and latest versions. We will also learn a detailed prompt structure and system that allows us to generate consistent, high-quality images.
Chapter 02 - Moodboards
In Chapter 02 we use Midjourney to explore materials and textures in ways never before possible. ChatGPT also allows us to bring in real-world physical samples and transfer our moodboards onto site photos or concept sketches.
We use Midjourney and ChatGPT to explore different interior spaces. We will learn how to use material combinations that connect back to our moodboards and design narrative.
Chapter 03 - Interior Studies
Chapter 04 - Details
In this Chapter we will learn how to control the AI outputs in order to zoom in and study specific design details. We will explore design options for different interior elements including door designs, furniture details, wall paneling and finishing.
Chapter 05 - Exploring Colour
We use AI to study colour theory and test colour combinations. We will also explore prompts that allow us to think about and present our ideas on colour in abstract ways.
In chapter six we explore furniture concepts and learn how to transfer them into different scenes and environments. We will also see how ChatGPT allows us to generate interior concepts of real spaces.
